There’s a certain kind of honesty I love in paranormal conversations. The kind where someone can say, “I’m interested, I’ve had experiences, but I’m also trying to make sense of what I’m hearing.” That’s exactly where this interview with Josh lands.
Josh is the creator behind TikTok @yousaywhoa, where he’s shared SKary Saskatchewan stories and paranormal content that leans spooky, curious, and grounded. In this chat, we talk about why ghost hunting is often way more downtime than people expect, why the best moments happen when you stop trying so hard, and a few experiences that still give him goosebumps.

Interview Highlights
How did you first get into the paranormal?
Josh: “My interest goes back to being a wee lad. I grew up in a house where cousins would visit and every bang or creak had to be a ghost or something worse.”
Josh: “We watched scary movies, and it just never left me.”
Josh: “There was a block on YTV called The Dark Corner, and my buddy Chad and I would watch that and then try our own little ghost hunts.”
What’s your biggest reality check about paranormal investigations?
Josh: “People should be prepared for lots of quiet time and downtime. It’s like watching paint dry.”
Josh: “You can sit in a location for 10 hours and maybe have activity for 15 minutes.”
Josh: “And if you have multiple cameras and audio recorders, reviewing everything takes forever.”
Have you ever had a moment that made you stop and go, okay, that was weird?
Josh: “At the Tommy Douglas Performing Arts Centre in Weyburn, there were stories that spirits like to whistle.”
Josh: “I whistled once, and we heard a whistle come back. Same length, same tone.”
Josh: “The guy with me asked if it was me again and I said no. He said it wasn’t him either, because he can’t even whistle.”
Why do you think the most interesting stuff happens when you’re not trying?
Josh: “When we were actively trying to elicit a response, nothing would happen.”
Josh: “But the second we would stop and just start talking amongst ourselves, that’s when things would start happening.”
Josh: “It happened countless times. I don’t know why, but it’s a pattern I can’t quite explain.”
What’s the scariest experience you’ve had, even without seeing anything?
Josh: “We were in an old farmhouse, and the attic door was one of those swollen doors you’d have to pound to get closed.”
Josh: “Later in the night, we’re upstairs, and we hear this screeching, scraping sound. It scared the crap out of me.”
Josh: “We came out of the bedroom and the attic door was wide open. We know it was closed because when it was open, it blocked the first bedroom door.”
Where can people follow your Saskatchewan ghost stories, and what do you want from listeners?
Josh: “If you are interested in Saskatchewan ghost stories, check out my TikTok.”
Josh: “There is a playlist there of scary Saskatchewan stuff.”
Josh: “And if you have ghost stories, please share them, because I want to hear more ghost stories about Saskatchewan.”
Josh: “My TikTok is @yousaywhoa.”
Conclusion
This interview was one of those conversations that reminded me why I love paranormal storytelling in the first place. Not because someone claims to have all the answers, but because it lives in that space between experience and explanation. Sometimes you can recreate a sound. Sometimes you cannot. And sometimes the most unsettling moments are the ones that happen when you least expect them.
