I always like to do countdowns to Halloween, although I’ve never done it “officially” on my social accounts. This year, I decided to change that!
For Halloween 2022, I’m doing a countdown to Halloween starting on October 1st – in MOVIES!
I have been getting great suggestions for which Halloween / Horror movies to watch as part of my countdown. In fact, there are just too many. So I’m breaking down the countdown into each decade to allow me to watch movies across the decades as well.

I will update this post with each of the movies as they come, as well as a review of each movie as I watch it. I’ll be posting updates on my social accounts regularly, so follow me there if you want to see watch updates live!
I am also following a new hashtag for this countdown, in case you want to follow along! So follow and post to #KDKHalloweenCountdown to do this countdown with me.
Here are the movies so far! I’ll continue to update until the list is full. I’ll also add my reviews of each movie while I’m going through. Follow me on TikTok, Facebook, or Instagram if you want to see the updates live!

Pre-1980’s Movies
House on Haunted Hill (1959)

Review:
Given this movie was from the 1950’s, I wasn’t expecting it to be exactly scary. And I was right… lol. It made me laugh more than anything.
However, I actually didn’t mind the movie. If you can get past the fact that women tend to be scared and don’t know how to defend themselves throughout anyway. I mean, I know I wouldn’t be able to move or fight back if a rope started crawling towards me! And I would definitely believe a skeleton on strings would be my dead ex coming back to haunt me too.
I would have loved to be in the recording studio when they decided to make the sound effects for this movie… Seriously – the screaming at the beginning was intense.
Psycho (1960)

Review:
Oh, when $40K could mean taking off and starting a new life! Lol
I found it interesting that the main character at the beginning is killed off halfway in. I imagine back in the day, that would have been unusual. Given she stole a bunch of money, she is very trusting of people. After having the manager of a hotel be so creepy and hearing his “mother” freaking out from my room, I would have taken off. The rain had stopped, so not hard to drive the last 15 miles.
Again, this movie made me laugh more than anything. I’m amazed at how little they attempted to show blood back in the day. Of course, being stabbed repeatedly causes only a small mess that can easily be cleaned up with a mop and water. No bleach needed!
